Church Ministries

At St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center our ministries are the heartbeat of our community, offering various ways to serve, grow, and connect. Explore how you can get involved in our Music Ministry, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC), and Lector programs.

Music Ministry

Inspire and Uplift Through Music

Our Music Ministry is dedicated to enhancing our worship experience through the gift of music. Whether you’re a seasoned musician or have a passion for singing, there’s a place for you here.

  • Choirs: Join one of our choirs to lend your voice in praise during Mass and special events.

  • Instrumentalists: Play an instrument? We welcome all types of musicians to contribute their talents.

If you have a love for music and want to be a part of a dynamic team, we invite you to get involved and help lead our congregation in worship.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC)

Serve with Compassion and Reverence

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) are dedicated individuals who assist in distributing the Eucharist during Mass and bring Communion to those who are unable to attend church.

  • Training: We offer comprehensive training for those interested in serving as EMHCs.

  • Duties: Assist with the distribution of Communion during Mass, and visit the sick and homebound to bring them the Eucharist.

  • Commitment: Serve with devotion and compassion, ensuring that the sacrament is administered with the utmost respect and care.

If you feel called to serve in this vital ministry and share the presence of Christ with others, we encourage you to consider becoming an EMHC.

Lector

Proclaim the Word of God

Our Lectors play a crucial role in proclaiming the Scriptures during Mass. As a Lector, you have the opportunity to bring the Word of God to life for our congregation.

  • Preparation: Receive guidance and support to prepare for your readings and deliver them with clarity and confidence.

  • Schedule: Participate in the regular rotation of readers for weekend and special liturgies.

  • Impact: Your voice helps to convey the message of the Scriptures and inspire our community.

If you have a passion for the Word of God and wish to share it with others, consider joining our team of Lectors.

Altar Serving Ministry

Serve at the Altar, Serve the Lord

Our Altar Serving Ministry is a vital part of our worship services, offering a meaningful way for young and adult members to actively participate in the celebration of the Holy Mass. As an altar server, you play a key role in assisting the clergy and enhancing the liturgical experience for our congregation.

What We Do

  • Assisting the Priest: Altar servers help with various aspects of the Mass, including carrying the processional cross, holding the book for the priest, and preparing the altar.

  • Duties: Responsibilities include lighting candles, bringing the offertory gifts to the altar, and ensuring that everything is in place for the smooth celebration of the Eucharist.

  • Training: We provide comprehensive training for new altar servers, ensuring that you are comfortable and confident in your role.

If you’re interested in becoming an altar server and serving our community at the altar, we would love to hear from you.
