We strive to build our relationship with God and a community that continuously grows in holiness. We practice and nourish our faith through cultivating prayer, leading small groups, hosting retreats, attending Catholic conferences, and building fellowship. Our community continually strives for holiness and seeks to be firmly rooted in our faith and in Christ.
There's this indescribable sense of joy that we feel whenever we are helping out another that is in need. It's in sharing that passion with others that we demonstrate the urgency our community needs. Our events range from different drives that benefit charities like Catholic Relief Services, to volunteering with organizations like Catholic Worker.
We hope to create an environment where everyone feels like they belong. From karaoke night and movie night, to holiday parties and Nerf gun battles, together we will continue to make the community grow and build lasting friendships.
Through our passions, our talents, our gifts, we hope to lead and inspire those around us to join in unison for our God. It's more than just playing music for Mass and other events; it's about joining together to praise our God. We bring the glory back to Him with the gifts that He has blessed us with.
"He who sings prays twice." -St. Augustine of Hippo
RCIA stands for The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. As one of the seven sacraments, Confirmation is one of two sacraments of initiation (the other one being Baptism). At this stage of our spiritual life, we learn not only to strive for our own spiritual growth, but the growth of others. Confirmation creates that sense of mission within ourselves to spread our Catholic faith and our desire to share with others the graces and the blessings that God has generously given to us.
If you want to become Catholic or are baptized Catholic and have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation, we do offer RCIA/Confirmation classes! Classes begin around the start of Fall semester, and meet every Sunday for the course of two semesters. Since 2006, when the Catholic Newman Center was renamed from the Interfaith Center, we have helped over 120 people receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and Baptism, receiving approximately 60 converts into the Catholic faith.
Please contact our office or visit the Newman Center during our office hours to arrange an appointment with Father Daniel in regards to spiritual direction or preparation for sacraments including Baptism, First Reconciliation, or Marriage.
If you would like to participate in any of these ministries and volunteer with our community, please contact us here.
